What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage is the treatment of the soft tissue of the body, including muscles, tendons and ligaments. You do not need to participate in sport to benefit from sports massage. My treatments work on optimising range of movement, improving the quality of soft tissue within the body, releasing tension, flushing through lactic acid, realigning scar tissue, injury prevention and rehabilitation management. I work to correct muscle imbalances developed through training and everyday activities, allowing my patients freedom of movement and maximising performance.

I don't participate in sport will I still benefit from sports massage?
Yes, anyone can benefit from Sports and Remedial Massage. Tension within the muscle is often developed through poor posture or repetitive movements that are work related and have nothing to do with sport.
Is it a good idea to get a Sports Massage during a training program?
Yes, definitely. It will reduce the typical muscle soreness you experience after an intense training session. Massage therapy will help to flush lactic acid and other waste products out of your body. You should also ensure you remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Does Sports Massage therapy hurt?
You may experience some discomfort with deeper techniques depending on the state of your muscles. However, treatment is always performed within your own pain threshold. Therefore, during a session you will be repeatedly asked a pain level number between 1 (no paint at all) and 10 (unbearable) to ensure that you can relax.
How many treatments will I need?
This is completely dependent on the condition of your soft tissue and the length of time it has been troubling you. The number of treatments can be reduced by your own input by following post treatment advice.
The appointment lasts for one hour, which includes a consultation, assessment and then treatment.
